Gaoantun Sludge Center
The Beijing Drainage Group owns and operates the Gaoantun sludge center. Gaoantun treats 400 tDS of sludge per day and is the largest sludge center in China, treating sludge from its own Gaoantun plant (10 000 m3/d), as well as plants Jiuxianqiao (200 000 m3/d), and Beixiaohe (100 000 m3/d). The sludge center was put into operation in 2017.
The sludge line is equipped with centrifuge pre-dewatering, sludge silos, the Cambi thermal hydrolysis process unit, anaerobic digesters, a chamber filter press for dewatering, and a filtrate treatment system.
The main drivers for using Cambi's thermal hydrolysis process include the centre's limited space and the desire for increased biogas production, volatile solids reduction, and decreased amounts of final sludge cake. The Class A biosolids are used for forestland and other land application purposes in surrounding areas.
