Cambi has been awarded a contract by Woojin for the installation of a CambiTHP® B6-4 unit at the Seobu Sewage Treatment Plant in the city of Daegu.
Daegu is the fourth largest in South Korea, with more than 2.5 million residents. Woojin Co., Ltd is the operator at the Seobu STP, under a 20-year O&M contract signed with the city of Daegu. Woojin is a privately held company based out of Daegu. The company was established in the late 1980s for the supply of digester mixing systems. Although the technology for mixing of sludges remains at the core of its business, Woojin has been expanding its business scope in South Korea and other countries in Asia.
Daegu Seobu is Cambi’s first project together with Woojin and the second in South Korea. The project will upgrade an existing conventional digestion plant, and has been driven mainly by the need to reduce the energy consumption and associated fuel purchases for the existing dryers. The new CambiTHP installation will increase on-site biogas production and improve final dewatering, allowing for a significant reduction in energy demand at the plant. In addition to the thermal hydrolysis plant, Cambi will also supply the ancillary boiler and coolers.
Cambi is pleased with the opportunity to increase the number of CambiTHP installations in South Korea, and committed to make this project a success and a reference in the region.
