The Hias wastewater treatment plant servicing Hamar, Norway, pioneered the world’s first full-scale Cambi thermal hydrolysis process (THP) system.

Facing strict new national regulations in the early 1990s, the utility turned to Cambi to explore solutions. Nearly 30 years later, the site's CambiTHP system continues to deliver exceptional reliability, high-quality biosolids, and significant energy benefits for the region.

30 years with the Cambi process has proved to us that it is a very stable and robust technology. I have no problem recommending Cambi technology to others.

When it was commissoned, the THP unit allowed Hias to eliminate long-standing odour issues and achieve better dewaterability.
