The Shek Wu Hui Sewage Treatment Works in Hong Kong is being upgraded and will be renamed the Shek Wu Hui Effluent Polishing Plant. The project will expand its treatment capacity to 190,000 m³ per day and upgrade the facility from secondary to tertiary wastewater treatment.
This is Cambi's first project in Hong Kong. The contract was awarded by Jardine Engineering Corporation, the contractor selected by the Hong Kong Drainage Services Department (HK DSD).
Cambi's thermal hydrolysis technology will enable capacity expansion within the plant’s existing footprint while increasing biogas production and improving sludge treatment.
The overall site upgrade is scheduled for completion in 2034, while the THP system was commissioned on site in 2025.
