The Geiselbullach Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bavaria, serving communities around Munich, has significantly improved sludge treatment efficiency by adopting Cambi's thermal hydrolysis process (THP).

Initially implemented for waste activated sludge in 2007 and later expanded with SolidStream THP in 2015, the technology delivered a 40–50% increase in biogas production, up to 75% reduction in volatile solids, and a 60% decrease in final sludge volumes, resulting in annual savings of around €515,000.

While the plant ultimately returned to a simpler WAS-only setup to align with its operational preferences, the project demonstrates the strong performance and economic benefits that THP can deliver.
