The Grødaland sludge treatment plant is located in south-west Norway and is one of the country's largest wastewater treatment and biogas plants.
The plant has separate pretreatment systems for (a) food waste from households and grocery chains and (b) wastewater sludge, septic sludge, and other industrial organic wastes. Cambi's thermal hydrolysis process was commissioned in 2014 and serves a population equivalent of 500,000.
"Today IVAR produces approximately 3,400,000 m3 of biogas/year.
This corresponds to the fuel consumption of 4.000 private cars with an annual mileage of 15,000 km"
