Sydney - St Marys
The St Marys Water Recycling Plant treats its indigenous sludge and the sludge from the nearby Quakers Hill plant. It is the second Cambi thermal hydrolysis process (THP) facility in Australia.
The Grade A biosolids that St Marys produces via advanced anaerobic digestion will be used to improve the soil in New South Wales, primarily in broadacre farms.
This advanced treatment has helped us significantly reduce the volume of sludge we produce. We’ve also cut down the number of trucks needed to move the sludge from St Marys and stopped biosolids truck movements from Quakers Hill. That means 1,000 fewer trucks on the road each year, reducing disruptions for nearby communities.
