Abstract
Tarnów wastewater treatment plant in Poland is also a centralized sludge treatment center (STC), which treats municipal and industrial wastewater and sludge. The plant is equipped with advanced anaerobic digestion comprising of a thermal hydrolysis process (THP) followed by lower thermophilic series anaerobic digestion. Installation of THP has helped increase the throughput of the plant and achieve higher bioenergy. The STC treats sludge from over 70 small wwtps and is self energy efficient.
