Thames Water owns the Chertsey Sewage Treatment Works in London, home to the first Cambi unit built for the UK market.
The facility treats sludge from several wastewater treatment plants, and with the introduction of thermal hydrolysis, the existing digesters were able to significantly increase their capacity.
In end-2004, Cambi signed a seven-year contract to operate the THP unit. Following re-engineering works, the facility has been running successfully since 2005.
