Cambi will supply Kentucky's largest wastewater treatment plant

Cambi has signed a contract to provide thermal hydrolysis process (THP) technology for a renovation at the Louisville MSD’s Morris Forman Water Quality Treatment Center (WQTC), the largest wastewater treatment plant in Kentucky, USA.
The project will utilize Cambi THP to increase the volume of wastewater solids the site’s existing anaerobic digesters can process. THP and additional improvements allow MSD’s Morris Forman WQTC to process not only the solids from this plant but also solids from some of its other locations while producing renewable energy and a smaller volume of high-quality biosolids.

The facility, owned and operated by the Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD), provides wastewater, stormwater and flood protection services for Louisville and surrounding communities. Louisville MSD Executive Director, Tony Parrott, remarked that the planned enhancements to the solids handling facility would be a win for both the environment and their customers for generations to come.
The project will be executed with Walsh Construction as the general contractor and Stantec providing engineering and design. Cambi’s scope includes two trains of the company’s B6 system, scheduled to commence operations in 2026.
