United Utilities’ biosolids strategy reduces carbon footprint

Abstract

United Utilities’ Biosolids Balanced Asset Program will reduce carbon footprint, maximize its existing asset use, significantly increase renewable energy generation, improve the quality of biosolids, and reduce the need for incineration.

The author, currently Technical Director in Cambi, explains the reasons why the UK water company developed this biosolids management strategy.
