Ourense

The Ourense Wastewater Treatment Plant in north-west Spain treats up to 7,000 tonnes of dry solids per year. It uses a 4-reactor B2 thermal hydrolysis system fitted into a 40-foot container unit, a compact design that allowed for easy on-site installation.  

Cambi's thermal hydrolysis process benefitted the plant in numerous ways. It increased the plant's treatment capacity from 88,000 to being able to serve a 290,000 population equivalent and primed the sludge to produce more biogas, used for generating electricity and thermal energy. The final biosolids are also pasteurised with no pathogen re-growth, making them suitable for land application.
