Solution: CambiTHP - B6
Vigo-Lagares is Spain’s largest wastewater treatment plant with biofiltration technology and one of the largest in Europe, serving a population equivalent of 800 000 in the Galicia county, in the north-west of Spain. The plant is located in a region of great natural value and close to urban areas. The location of the plant required a state-of-the-art facility with a low environmental impact.
Cambi's thermal hydrolysis process (CambiTHP) was integrated in the sludge line, as pre-treatment of sludge before anaerobic digestion. Our company delivered a B6 system in a pre-assembled package unit, ensuring quick and easy start-up and space optimisation. Thermal hydrolysis has also helped Vigo-Lagares reduce the volume of digesters needed and has increased biogas production by up to 30%. The final dewatered sludge has an average dry matter of 30% and it's free of pathogens and re-growth, which makes is suitable for land application.
