Country: USA
Client: Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission
Solution: CambiTHP - B6
The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water) is currently developing its largest and most technically advanced project, the modernisation of the Piscataway Water Resource Recovery Facility in Maryland. The Piscataway Bioenergy Project, as it is called, aims to make the plant a sludge centre for five other plants owned by the utility.
WSSC Water pre-selected Cambi following the success of the thermal hydrolysis process technology at DC Water's Blue Plains Advanced Water Treatment Plant, which also services a portion of Maryland. With Cambi's process, the utility will shift to advanced anaerobic digestion and turn the site's limed Class B biosolids into Class A output by 2024 when the facility is scheduled for completion. The thermal hydrolysis unit is expected to be delivered in 2022.
